It has been my pleasure to work with Carol Newton and the Bright Smiles Team over the past six years in my role as the School Nurse at both Cadott Community Schools and Lake Holcombe School District. I can say without a doubt in all of my professional years as a Registered Nurse, School Nurse and a parent of school age children that the Bright Smiles program is an asset to our school and our children. The staff of Bright Smiles work with our children with such care as to make them feel safe and unafraid of the services that they are providing. This is not only a great experience, but for some children this is some of the only dental care that they will receive.
In addition, Carol and the Bright Smiles Team will go above and beyond to help children with advanced needs. They are a great resource for our schools and our families. I have been able to learn a lot about dental health and its importance to our body. The children that I work with that do have dental health needs or concerns have a difficult time learning and concentrating in class because of the pain they are having. If we can get those needs met and eliminate the pain that those children are experiencing they are able to enjoy school and continue to learn and grow.
I would wholeheartedly recommend the Bright Smiles Program for any school district. I believe that we do not always realize the impact that health concerns, including dental problems can have on our children’s learning and school experience. Healthy children learn better.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about Bright Smiles that I might be able to answer.
Sincerely,
Jessica Hager, RN, BSN, CDE
